Fall 2025 Introduction - A message from the director

Description of the video:

  • Hello, my name is Leslie Robinson, and I am the director for the Academic Support Center here at Indiana University Bloomington. In this brief video, I am going to give you a quick overview of the ASC and its services for the fall 2025 semester.
  • The ASC has three in-person locations in the center building of various residence halls across campus, specifically Briscoe, Forest, and Teter, and there will also be math help available via Zoom. We are open in the evenings, Sunday through Thursday, from 7:00 to 11:00 pm, and we offer group math help for introductory courses such as calculus and business math and individual writing tutorials.
  • For this fall, our opening night was Tuesday, September 2, and there will be in-person math and writing help at all three locations most evenings along with math help on Zoom during our regular hours of operation. For the Zoom link, you can email us at acadsupp@iu.edu or check the ASC Tutoring Services page on our website.  On the website, you can also get updated information about upcoming closures, such as for fall break or Thanksgiving week.
  • IU Bloomington has many options for academic support, and the ASC has ongoing partnerships with a number of programs.
  • One of those programs is the Student Academic Center (or SAC), which offers courses for credit, academic coaching, videos on its YouTube channel, and peer-assisted study sessions designed to help students be successful in college. Another resource for help is Writing Tutorial Services (or WTS), which provides one-on-one writing help at any stage of the writing process and has its main location in the Wells Library Learning Commons.  The Advising and Major Exploration Services (or AMES) office serves primarily exploratory, pre-business and pre-nursing students. For anyone with questions about arranging accommodations at IUB, you would want to contact the Accessible Educational Services office (which is part of the Office of Student Life).  Their website has information about how to register for services and to learn more about what they offer.
  • If you have any questions about academic support resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email at acadsupp@iu.edu, by phone at 812-855-6931 (where you can leave a message), or using the contact form on the ASC website. There is also the tutoring.indiana.edu website that includes information about a range of general tutoring resources and which is searchable by subject or course. Thank you!
